How can I check my Spam folder from POP3 mail client in Outlook Express?

Step 1. First you will need to setup another POP3 account in Outlook 2000 with the username being yourname-spam@yourdomainname.com and password being the current password you’re using for your regular email account. Example:brady-spam@vihn.net.

Step 2. To setup the new account Go to tools > Sevices. A new dialogue box will appear click the “Add”button and then a new box will appear. .

Step 3. Once in the Add Service Selection area you will need to click "Internet E-mail" then click the "Ok " button. This will open up an other E-mail Accounts dialog box for you.


Step 4. The Mail Account Properties box will appear. Click on the "Servers" Tab and then add the imail.vihn.net in the incoming mail and Outgoing mail areas. For incoming Mail Server you will need to put in your account name which is your email address( Example yourname-spam@yourdomainname.com). Your password will be the same as your regular email account . The Outgoing Mail Server authentication needs to be check as well. Then click the "Apply" button and then press "OK".

Step 5. In Microsoft Outlook you will need to go to Tools > Rules Wizard. After that opens you will need to select "Move messages based on content". Then click on the "specific words" below in the Rule description area.

Step 6. In the "specifc words" area a new dialog box will open. You can now add the phrases that will need to be in this rule. Type in X-IMail-SPAM-Statistical click "Add" and then repeat to add X-IMail-SPAM-Phase. Once done then click "OK"

Step 7. You will be at the "Rule Wizard" dialogue box again. Click the specified folder link, and this will open up another dialogue box for you to create an email box to but your spam in. Move to step 8.

Step 8. Click on the Mailbox that you want your new Spam folder to go to. It will be Highlighted Blue. Then click the “New” button and then name that email folder "Spam" then press "Ok".

Step 9.That will take you back to the Rules Wizard. You will need to click the "NEXT" Button. On Dialogue box there will be a question on the top stating “What condition(s) do you want to check.” Check the first one, which is “with specific words in the subject or body”, then click the “Next” button.

Step 10. Another box will appear; the question on the top will be “What do you want to do with the messages.” Check only the first one, and then click the “Next” button.

Step 11. The next dialogue box is the exception dialogue. Just click the “Next” button. There is no need to add exceptions .

Step 12. Another box will appear. Name the Rule and then click finish.

Step 13. Another box will appear;check the box in the "Apply rules int he following order:" then click "OK" .

Step 14. This will take you back to Outlook 2000. Once at main screen click the send and receive icon. To check messages marked as spam. Click on the Spam folder to see the message marked as spam coming into that new folder.
